The LeCour Curse

I never really agreed with my husband that we ALWAYS seem to have odd things happen to us but I am starting to think some things are quite odd.

A while back I purchased something at the scrapbook store that I frequent and found that the amount was debited from my checking account 2X. After researching what happened I found that my purchase was the only one that was caught in a system change over at the store. The store rectified the mistake by paying the fees I was charged by my bank and the double charge.

Another situation. I rarely make online purchases because I don’t always trust that I will get the merchandise and that my credit card information is as protected as the company states. Being that I was unable to find the item at a local store I decided to purchase it online. I provided them with my bank information and thought everything was fine. The company called my husband and told them that the bank denied the transaction so my husband gave them a new account number to use. When checking with my bank I was told that the original transaction was due to come out of my account the very next day. I was assured by the company that they only have the information that my husband provided and the original transaction was deleted. I verified all the addresses with the company thinking I had made a mistake and my bank said that there were no denials on my account. Go figure. Now it’s a waiting game to see if I will be debited 2X for this purchase.

Our mortgage company is another issue. Since this mortgage company purchased our loan we have had nothing but problems. My husband and I believe that no one knows what’s going on at their own company. My husband will frequently pay more than our mortgage amount which confuses the mortgage company. They continue to apply our payment wrong or don’t apply our payment at all. I am surprised that my husband doesn’t know them on a first name basis as he is on the phone monthly with them. We recently received a letter from the company stating that we were in collections. With the letter in hand my husband called the company to discuss the letter and was told told that our account was fine and that there were no derogetory marks on our account.
Go figure. Thankfully our loan was sold to another mortgage company and we are hoping they can handle things a little better than the last.

My husband and I agree that there is some kind of curse that hangs over our heads. Millions of other people do the same things that we do and everthing goes smooth for them. Yet when we do it something inevitably goes wrong. There are many more odd things that happen but I won’t bore you with the details. Is it just an odd coincidence or is there really a curse on us. Maybe we will never know. Or maybe SA is a voodoo queen and placed a curse on us.
