Don’t go to Supercuts

I would advise anyone who has been thinking about going to get their haricut to not go to Supercuts. I had the worst experience with them and want everyone to think twice before they regret their decision.

I went to get a haircut and as I was waiting to get my haircut I saw on the sign that they could do highlights. Since I was trying to not go to my normal salon because they are very expensive I decided to get a highlight also. Big Mistake! I went in with brown hair and came out with bleach blonde hair. I was very specific when I told the hairdresser that I did not want blond highlights. I was so distraught when I left that I paid my bill, tipped her (yeah I know stupid, but I already said I was distraugt) and walked out without saying anything to her. I got in the car and called my husband and told him I didn’t know what to do but that it looked horrid. I decided that I didn’t want anyone to see my hair that way so I went to my normal salon to have them fix the mess. After two hours at the salon they were able to correct the damage done but at a cost 3 times greater than what I paid at Supercuts. I have always been a person that learns from my mistakes and this was a big one.

Don’t let Supercuts touch your hair.

On Friday I noticed your hair was shorter and was going to complement you on how nice it looked, but the conversation veered off before I did so. I didn’t imagine what you’d been through to get it done. But the end result is very nice.

You were going to “complement” Kim on her hair? What, were you going to get your haircut, too?!

  3. Sean Says:

Yes. In an act of solidarity and support. So there.

hi im supercuts manager in puerto rico and i think you need to have a good comunication with the stylist and the things will be better.

  5. Kim Says:

I was very specific in what I wanted and didn’t want and she didn’t do what I asked. She obviously didn’t listen to the customer in this case. The one thing that I would have done differently is told her that it was horrible and not paid the bill.

Kim, I am very sorry about your experience at supercuts. However, I do not belive that it is Supercuts fault. The unfortunate experience was between you and the stylist. Not the Supercut salon or the entire chain. Did you give the salon (Supercuts) a opportunity to fix the problem? And by setting up this websit what are you hoping to achieve? Bad publicity is still publicity.
    I am an Cosmetology Instructor, and I know that it is often a miscommunication between the client and the stylist. This is in three phases;
    consultation, agreement and finish.
I hope that you took the time to communicate all three phases before you place blame on the salon or salons. I am giving you this information to help you on your future salon vists, where it is at a supercut salon or not.

She said she was very specific that she didn’t want blond highlights. I imagine that’s a pretty clear communication.

And even if she hadn’t, is there no responsibility on the part of the hairdresser, the professional who does this for a living, to make sure they understand what the customer wants?

I wen’t back and got my money and they gave me 4 free hair cut cards like Iwill use them THEY said the lady who done my hair was new .Now I have found out they lied and she is not new and they also said they had someone comeing out to retrain her the next day is that a lie also.I also done some digging and they have to go to supercuts school before starting so they all will chop hair the same way. and fantastic sams is also linked to them better stay away from both places. I should haveknown by the lady ahead of me when she had her hair in triangles on each side of her hair and cut to middle of her head in back we just thought she wanted a goth hair style or modern wave I am still upset about my hair and have to curl bangs and raise back hair up in clip to cover the cut off hair in the back of my hair!! sorry girls to vent but all of me was my hair friend says im like Samson when he lost his locks but I loved my hair EVEN AT 39 and two almost grown kids. Plus I hate to be lied too like they did mad mad mad in oklahoma city!!!!

I had my hair cut once by this lady at supercut. I told her exactly what I wanted, she still messed it up. Awful! I wanted a more fashionable haircut but she turned my hair into an awfully old fashion style. She cut my hair like in a straight line. Hey anybody can be a hairdresser in that case. The worst thing is, she asked me if I wanna blow my hair, since she messed up my hair and I thought she offered to make it better and neat, but then she charged me without telling me. Like Kim, I was so distraught and I paid the bill. Later I regretted it and if this happen in the future, I vow to tell the manager.

You know, I’ve left high end expensive salons in tears before. I think it’s the fault of the stylist herself not the chain. But I do agree that cheaper salon chains do have a higher rate of inexperienced stylists. I also think that it’s important that the person who cuts your hair is close in age to you also, it seems to get me better results.

  14. Rachel Says:

It really has nothing to do with the the salon. Yeah…they should know better than to just hire any one that has a license, But one person dosent account for all the stylists!

i happen to come across ur website strictly in error and i am shocked by the comments that are being posted here; i used to work at supercuts and prior to being able to go on the salon floor and work on customers i was required to go to supercuts academy where i was instructed on how to cut using supercuts techniques and i had to pass a certification test; the comments that r being posted here are definitely concerning and i personally feel that anyone who has had a bad experience should contact the manager for that salon and give them the opportunity to correct it. a bad experience does not start with the color of a person skin or the size of their body, the salon that i worked in was very customer oriented and we had a large number of return customers who were happy with the services that they received. for future references if u go to any salon whether it is a high price or chain salon u can always request who u want to do ur hair, if u get someone who u dont like the color of their skin or the size of their body please dont let them service u because no matter what type of service they do ur shallow mind and racism will prevent u from being willing to accept it even if it is outstanding, also please keep in mind one or two bad salons does represent all of supercuts, where i am located they are all over and out of all of the salons that i have worked in they provided the most training with techniques and customer service, so i must agree with the response that jess posted on june 3, its not just supercuts mistake, if the stylist is not responding as if they r aware of what u r requesting it is ur responsibility to make sure u get them to understand before they touch ur hair, also with highlights test strands r always done so if u agreed to the test strand result than its just as much ur mistake as it is the stylist.

I have been reading the comments and it is unfortunate that many of the clients left Supercuts with a negative experience. I too worked for Supercuts and was Technical Manager. I was to over see our stylist and make sure they used Supercuts techniques. The stylist at Supercuts go through extensive training. They will not allow a stylist to go any farther in the training academy if they don’t understand the techniques and principles. Once on the platform, the stylist have to participate in monthly seminars in the salon. Unfortunately, there’s going to be some stylist who have problems communicating with clients. This exist in any salon you might visit. I had a stylist who just was not a people person. I did have to correct her haircuts when able and definitely didn’t charge for the services. The client did come back and request a different stylist. Also, if you do encounter a problem, whether it’s during the consultation or at the end of the service, when possible let a manager know. There is always a way to resolve the problem. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the result, do not pay! Why pay and bìtçh about it later. As funny as it sounds, Supercuts does have a satisfaction guarantee on services rendered. One thing we were to say to clients when asked who cuts better is “We all use the same technique” (true), but we all cut differently. Keep that in mind. When possible, sit and watch. I do believe Regis Corp. should have kept Supercuts strictly cut&style, they have many other full service salons. It’s hit and miss when looking for the right stylist. Good Luck. I agree with what Roz had to say also.

I have used Supercuts and TGF and had decent haircuts sometimes better than a high priced salon. I’ve never understood why people put these places down. Now, I probably wouldn’t get my hair colored there unless I knew the stylist’s experience with hair color but I do that at any salon I go to.

I am a manager of a Supercuts salon in Canada and can appreciate that not all hair experiences are what we expected. I do feel however that it is not the fault of Supercuts as much as it is the miscomunication between stylist and client. It is true that we have to learn and use the Supercuts technique as well as have completed 2500 hrs in Beauty School. Depending on where you are licienced. I have 16 yrs experience cutting hair and there has never been a day that I purposely set out to give someone a bad haircut or colour. As for experience colouring whether it is a high end salon or not should not make a difference. It is the person mixing and applying the colour, their understanding of the properties of the service and skill.
As the manager of my salon I have no one on my floor that I would not trust to cut my hair… and I am one of the worst possible customer because I know exactly what I want.

My son just had a horrible experience at our local Supercuts. This “professional hairstylist” said that my 3 year old was moving…that’s why the clippers happen to make his ear bleed.

I was pretty angry when my son started to cry. I asked her to stop and was livid when she didn’t stop. I decided to force my way to check my son. Seriously, why would he start crying? There has to be a reason.

The cut wouldn’t stop bleeding. She finally decided to give him a bandaid? I can only say, “WOW”.

I later checked his other ear, and she had also clipped that ear too!!! That was the reason why he was squirming in the first place!

I don’t know what I was thinking when I paid the full price, and tipped her! I must not have been in my right mind. She gave me a $2 off coupon…FOR THE NEXT VISIT! Like I’d ever bring my son back.

I’m not a hateful person, but really!!! I truly believe that Supercuts should check in on their franchises and work on keeping some sort of quality service and reputation. Very HATEFUL woman!
