Scrapbook Weekend

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend a scrapbook weekend at the Silver Spur in Sonora, California. It took me right back to 6th grade summer camp right down to the bunk beds. It has a pool, volley ball court, a kissing tree, picnic tables, a stage area, a fire place in the main lobby, a cafeteria and many other things that remind me of days long ago. The facility provides all your meals so you don’t have to worry about cooking all you have to do is show up at meal time. I think it would be fun to stay here with my family as a short get away because there are so many things to do for everyone.

I attended my first weekend crop in October 2003 at the same place and I enjoyed it more the second time. I don’t know if it was that I completed 3 more pages than last time or if it was the weather being warmer but it was more enjoyable this time around. We arrived on Friday around 3:30 in the afternoon and checked in to our room then started scrapping. Aside from taking time out to eat dinner I scrapped until about midnight before I thought I should try to get some sleep. Sleep evaded me for several hours and if I slept 4 or 5 hours I was lucky. It could have been due to the altitude, the different bed, the environment or the fact that I wanted to scrap more but thought that I needed to sleep. I woke early the next morning and took a shower to help myself wake up and went to eat breakfast. I started scrapping on Saturday about 8:30 a.m. and scrapped until 1:15 a.m. only taking time out to go to the bathroom and eat lunch and dinner. I finally turned in around 1:30 a.m. and woke early again, ate an early breakfast and went back to scrapping until about 12:30 p.m. before packing up and heading home. You would think with the lack of sleep I wouldn’t have enjoyed myself as much as I did but I was in a very relaxed calm mood and everything just flowed for me. Nothing was rushed or demanding of my attention and was completely peaceful. I really enjoyed myself and would like to go back again.

The first time I went I completed 39 pages and this time I exceeded that number by three at a total of 42 pages. My goal for next time is to surpass my last goal even if only by one page. For those of you who scrap and have never been on a crop weekend my suggestion is that you attend one to see if you like it. You might find a new way to get away somewhere with no worries.
