Back to school

My son and daughter go back to school tomorrow. My daughter will be starting her sophomore year at Lincoln High school and my son will be starting kindergarten at Hacienda.

I remember when I was young and all the last minute preparations my mother had to do before my siblings and I started school. We had to have new lunch boxes and school supplies as well as new school clothes.

My son will be attending a school that is uniformed which makes it easy to get dressed in the morning. It also is safer for the kids in my opinion. I spent $165 on his clothes that should get him through at least half of the year. I’m sure I will have to replace his shirts more often as they are white and that color goes oh so well with a 5 year old.

I don’t think he quite understands that he will be attending a different school from the pre-school that he has been at for the last year and a half. I have confidence that he will adjust fine as he is a very outgoing little boy. I believe that he will really enjoy the outdoor environmental classroom they have at Hacienda. It is an exciting time for him and me.

My daughter hasn’t been taken clothes shopping yet as it is more time consuming and more expensive to take her. She unlike her brother is not in a uniform school and can wear almost anything she wants within reason. And of course last years clothes are so out of date. I will be buying her some clothes but she will have to get more creative in mixing things in from last year.

Cortney will also have a very difficult year academically. Last year she had it easy and still didn’t do very well so it will be interesting to see how she fairs this year. She has Latin, Geometery, World History, Biology, English, Drama, and Dance. She also has dance at Branham. I wish her luck.

I’m not having trouble with Cortney starting her second year at the same school but I may have emotional issues when my youngest goes off to big kids school for the first time. I feel fine about it right now but we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

I find it very hard to believe that Sterling is starting kindergarten. Seems like only yesterday that he was a little guy who didn’t even talk! As for Cortney, I remember sophomore year being super hard…for some reason they figure that by your second year in high school you can handle an insane work load! Hopefully she’ll be able to handle it ok and come through with flying colors!
