Medication and moods.
Everyone can react differently to different kinds of medication. Some people may never have side effects from them and others may experience every side effect a particular medication lists on the drug information.
Unfortunately for those around my daughter we are getting to see the effect her medication has on her. I refuse to believe that just her medication causes her to behave the way she does but I do think that it has a pretty big impact. I would have to say that for the past 3-4 months she has become way more irritable, nasty, rude, unpleasant, disrespectful, and just not fun to be around. She has been called on her behavior by myself and Richard and of course for Cortney it’s everyone and everything else’s fault. She has blamed everything on the medication and I know that it has contributed to some of her moods but not to all of them.
This evening I called her on it and told her that I really didn’t like being around her because of the way she talked to me and the rest of the family. I told her that she use to be fun to be around but most of the time lately I dread being around her because I get tired of dealing with it. She knows that the medication can affect her negatively but I told her that if she is aware of it then I believe she has the ability to control some of it as well.
She is such a downer sometimes and I have caught myself saying that she can go live with her grandmother more frequently than I should. I love her and I want what’s best for her. I look forward to the day when she won’t have to take the medication any longer and then we will see her true colors. Hopefully only another couple of months…OMG that seems like a long time.
