Adult or still a kid?

Yesterday we celebrated Cortney’s 18th birthday. She wanted to go to Malibu Grand Prix and drive the mini race cars. There were eleven of us but a few had to ride double as in the case of Richard and Sterling since you needed a driver license and not everyone had them. Everyone seemed to have a good time and then we headed off to get something to eat.

Richard and I footed the bill at IHOP as that is where everyone decided to go. Then headed back to our house for the kids to hang out and do what teenagers will do in the presence of adults.

They wound up playing the Eye Toy game most of the day and later in the evening when there were just a few of them left they played Mexican Train Dominoes. I can’t say that I want to hear any music from the Eye Toy game any time in the near future because I was tired of hearing it by the end of the day.

Cortney was able to drive everyone to Taco Bell to grab some dinner last night since she is now 18. I don’t know if she is happy about it or ambivalent about it but at least she can return some of the times that her friends toted her around.

I think throughout our lives we all remain kids at heart. So while technically Cortney is an adult I will always see her as my kid even when she is much older than 18.
